The Savior—yes, the Messiah, the Lord—has been born today in Bethlehem, the city of David! Luke 2:11

Lord Jesus, it’s the day angels “harked” and shepherds ran; Mary treasured, and Herod dreaded. God loved the world so much, he gave us you—our blessed Savior, Messiah, and Lord. Our joy is great, our peace is deep, and our hope is alive.

More than air and water, no more wars and no more COVID, we needed/need a Savior. Jesus, you are the King of Kings, the Monarch of Mercy, and the Governor of Grace. You defeated evil, saved us from our sins, and are making all things new. What a salvation. What a Savior. Merry Christmas, indeed.

In you we have complete forgiveness, perfect righteousness, and Abba’s favor. You are the resolution for all our fears, the fulfiller of all our hopes, and the balm for all our aches. You, plus nothing, are our everything, Jesus.

We bow before you in quiet adoration, and dance before you with unfettered jubilation. Thank you for caring for us with relentless compassion and unflappable tenderness. Thank you reigning over every crawdad, crisis, and king. History isn’t random; it’s yours. Everything wrong has an expiration date.

As we savor the riches of your first coming, we crave the fullness of your return. We long for the eternal Day of wiped tears, no death, and perfect love. How long, Lord Jesus? Make it be soon. So very Amen we pray, in your magnificent and merciful name.
